Urgent! New sportmens related legislation
Could Chapter 180, Part II Be Heading to Massachusetts?
If you don't remember, Chapter 180 of the Acts of 1998 created some of the most confusing and ill-advised set of gun laws in the country. The vast majority of those new laws
attacked lawful gun owners and did little, if anything, to address violent crime.
One recommendation actually suggests that,"... State Police be
assigned the duty of making periodic checks of registered guns." Imagine the day when law enforcement can come to your homes to take inventory of your private property!

Sportsmen’s Show Please visit the Swift River Sportsman’s Club booth at the Springfield
Sportsman’s Show the last weekend in February. We’ll be in the “Young Building” same as previous years. Clambake Crew wanted! John Harstad & Charlie Bliss are running the clambake on June 8, 2008. They need a team of volunteers.
If interested please contact John or Charlie. Want to work your yearly work hours off? We need your help! - see below *Carpentry - club house siding; barn repair, prep/application of paint;
picnic table repair. *Grounds keeping - lawn mowing, trimming and brush clearing. *Archery - target maintenance, 3-D shoots in March/April/August, trail
cleaning and marking, target setup and take down, Sunday morning shoot registration, kitchen help for breakfast & lunch. *Coordinate Boy Scout work parties.
*Trap - assist and run trap shooting Sunday mornings during trap season- Spring through fall. *Pheasant Stocking Program - feeding and watering birds, stocking birds
for club and private events. *Turkey and Ham shoots - These events are held before Easter in spring
and before Thanksgiving, October and November. Help is needed handing out ammunition, pulling targets, scoring targets and kitchen help is needed. *Legislative Committee - Delegates needed to attend Sportsmen’s Council meetings, stay in touch with GOAL, and keep the club apprised
of news and legislation that affects the club and its members. *Dinners & Banquets - food prep, cooking, table & chair setup,
serving & clearing tables, raffle sales, clean-up, bartending &, TICKET SALES.
February - Game dinner March - Corned Beef dinner April - Archery Banquet, Prime Rib dinner June - Clam Bake July - Pig roast, Chicken BBQ
October - 200 Club dinner, Trail Ride December - Bird Stocking Benefit dinner Children’s parties - Easter, Halloween & Christmas Most Important! Come to the meetings and get to know who is running
events, when and what you can do to help out and get your time in. We look forward to seeing you there.
