The Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security Senator James Timilty and Representative Michael Costello Room 167 State House Boston, MA. 02133 In Support of H. 2259 An Act relative to civil rights and public safety Dear Senator Timilty and Representative Costello, I write today for reform! I read H.2259 in its entirety and agree with Gun Owners Action League (GOAL) that this bill is necessary in today's environment. There are many things that Chapter 180 changed that have adversely affected gun owners and sportsmen alike and this is only one law that Massachusetts has on the books that is un- acceptable. It isn't really fair for one township or another to make laws that infringe upon others within and traveling through the commonwealth. Most current Massachusetts gun laws have infringed upon my constitutional rights in one way or another while doing nothing to reduce crime. This is un-acceptable! (http://www.goal.org/truthfulstatspages/truthfulstats.html) I believe this bill if it were introduced into law would protect the rights of all individuals by making the rules fair for all lawful gun owners. It would also help to discourage breaking the law by instituting heavy fines and/or imprisonments to an individual for breaking gun laws. I believe it will definitely cause a slow down in stolen firearms within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I urge you for support of this bill and respectfully request a response as to how you plan to vote on this bill. Sincerely,
